Bilateral (2 schools)
A Home Institution that wishes to use a Teaching Institution’s courses regularly is encouraged to enter into individual bilateral consortial agreement with that Teaching Institution. Under this agreement, the Teaching Institution’s course is transcribed on the Home Institution’s transcript, and the main benefits of this arrangement is that the Home Institution can apply financial aid to the course and count the grade received within the student’s on-campus GPA. Acadeum is available to assist schools wishing to enter into bilateral consortial agreements with other schools. Contact support@acadeum.com for assistance.
Association Consortia (more than 2 schools)
Schools may join larger consortial agreements that are developed by associations of schools. To join one of these agreements, schools execute the association’s agreement and that entitles them to use courses from all schools who have signed the agreement as consortial courses. Like the bilateral agreements, courses under multilateral agreements are transcribed on the Enrolling Member’s transcript, the Home Institution’s financial aid can be applied, and the grades received can be factored into the student’s on-campus GPA.
Schools may join multiple bilateral and multilateral consortia. The two main advantages to joining multiple consortia: 1) providing additional course options for institutions, and 2) opening a larger market for institutions offering courses.
